Previous Spark Years
Spark was launched in December 2007 as a pioneering development and investment programme, which aimed to inspire organisations to build social enterprises that would prevent and tackle homelessness using sustainable business models.
In the first year, Spark 2008, 15 enterprises were supported to develop their businesses with a mixture of cash investments, consultancy and business development support from our corporate partners. You will have heard of the Salvation Army, but what do you know about Shekinah Mission? To find out more about all the finalists click here
The success of 2008 was repeated with Spark 2009, when a further 15 enterprises won a share of the awards package. They ranged from Willow eco-coffins produced in Cambridge to inspiring Catering and Hospitality under the guidance of executive London chef Simon Boyle. The finalists showcase the best business ideas and talent currently tackling homelessness in the UK. To find out more click here
New in 2009 was Sparklers which is aimed at homeless entrepreneurs who have an idea for a new business venture (or those who have already developed an early stage business). To find out what happened click here
